Scott Cawthon is a Former professional video game creator best known for creating the Five Nights at Freddy’s game series and franchise. He was born on 4 June 1978 in the United States. He is 44 years old (as of 2022). Since Five Nights at Freddy’s, Scott Cawthon had worked on video games. He posted the first part of an eight-part series titled The Pilgrim’s Progress on his YouTube account, Animdude, on March 19, 2007. The animation is based on the same-named novel by John Bunyan. Cawthon went on to create numerous other games after The Pilgrims Progress, notably Sit N’ Survive, Chipper and Sons Lumber Co., and The Desolate Hope.
Steam Greenlight was used to submit some of these. While The Desolate Hope got it through the process, notable critics panned several games, most notably Chipper and Son Lumber Co., for having characters that moved and interacted with each other like animatronic machines. Cawthon was initially discouraged, almost to the point of abandoning game development entirely, but he eventually decided to capitalize on the animatronic-like characters, resulting in the creation of Five Nights at Freddy’s.
Cawthon uploaded Five Nights at Freddy’s on IndieDB on July 24, 2014, and it quickly became a hit. On August 13, 2014, he submitted it to Desura, and on June 13, 2014, he submitted it to Steam Greenlight, where it was accepted on August 18, 2014. When it was first submitted to Steam Greenlight, a trailer was released on July 14, 2014, followed by a demo on July 24, 2014. When the game was accepted on August 8, it was launched on Steam for $4.99, with an iOS and Android release on July 28, 2015. The game earned positive reviews from critics and was the topic of several popular YouTube Let’s Play videos. He stopped developing games in 2021 and passed over the FNAF franchise to another developer.
