Yeon-mi Park is a famous North Korean Human rights activist, defector, and Author of “Order to Live, A North Korean Girl’s Journey to Freedom,” She was born on 4 October 1993 in Hyesan, Ryanggang, North Korea. She lives in Chicago, Illinois. She is 28 years old (as of 2022). She grew up with her elder sister named Eun-mi. Because food is available when Park had been a child, she ate grasshoppers and dragonflies and gained around 50 and 60 pounds (22 to 27 kilograms), according to her, She did that if the only option she could stay alive was to flee. A large part of North Korea had been without electricity, and Park’s only source of sustenance was “watching the electricity coming from China during the night.”
Park’s sister had left with a companion while she was 16, and Park claimed that she was intended to escape on the same day, Park on other hand, got a stomach ailment one day and ended up in the hospital. Because the hospital lack sufficient technology to evaluate her, they concluded she had appendicitis. That after surgery, they discovered that Park’s problem was a malnutrition-related issue. The hospital, Park said, was filthy, with staff that uses the same syringe on many patients and bodies stacking up in the corridors with no means to get rid of them. She had her appendix removed using anesthetics and would not get an infection as a result of the procedure.
As she, her mother, and her father tried to flee, they were approached by agents who wants to be able to assist them. The Parks have been so frantic to get out of North Korea that she didn’t bother to investigate the agents, who raped Park’s mother. Park was bought into sexual servitude for less than $300 when she was 13 years old, and she was taken from her mother, Park’s mother would be purchased when she becomes his girlfriend, according to the agent who purchased her.
Park spent two years as a sex trafficker before being freed by South Korean Christians who wanted to bring the Holy book to North Korea. She was assured by the priests that if she “believed in God,” they would assist her. She was set free by South Korean Christians in China when she was 15, allowing her to travel to South Korea on her own, to get over to South Korea, the preachers just gave her a guide, because she had to trek along a wasteland in minus 40-degree weather.
